I like to think of BPA as using computers to do the busywork and repetitive tasks of running a business for you. This frees up your time and energy to spend on gaining new customers and delighting your existing ones. The right BPA system can save thousands of hours of manual work.
BPA can increase the speed, efficiency, and accuracy of your tasks. This allows you and your employees to spend less time on low value tasks and more time on higher level decisions. Since the data is processed by computers using rules you decide it will happen consistently and without chance of manual error.
One of the first things we used business process automation for was preparing sales analytics reports. We had multiple sales channels, product lines, and partners and we had someone spending one day per week compiling all of the information from these different silos and formatting it for our needs to make decisions. We realized this was a huge waste of resources and decided to automate the process. We built a system that compiles all the information we need from all the different silos and presents it to us in the format we want. Not only was the employee now free to spend more time building out new sales channels but also our automated system could deliver us the information daily instead of weekly. We were able to make better decisions faster and in the process generated more profits.
